70 year old dog needs help to learn new tricks on the computer?

I am new to the computer scene and need some additional assistance setting up my email in outlook express. I have a email account with yahoo that I want to set up in outlook express but the instructions provided online either were not clear enough or they were wrong because it didn’t work. Also the screen and it’s contents for almost all web pages are too small for me to see without squinting. I went to VIEW and then to TEXT size and changed that, but still the windows and most text are hard for me to see. Can someone help me with that too? Remember that I’m not experienced with the computer so please give me step by step instructions. Thanks for helping this old dog learn a few new tricks.
I have windows xp home edition and my computer is a compaq

Jim what kind of computer and operating system do you have.

Things will vary a bit from OS to OS.

You might want to change the resolution of your display, I am on a Mac so if you are on Windows..it will be different.

Well it doesn’t look like anyone is going to answer.

There should be something on your desktop called settings, in there you should be able to find display.

Go in there and look for something called resolution- it is probably at something like 1024 by 760. Pick the next one with lower numbers. This will give you a bigger font.

Wow…all of these windows people in the world and no one to help, how sad.

I hope this helps you.

How can I create (or buy) a MILD computer virus?

Our industry is seriously plagued with epople stealing our assets via peer 2 peer sharing svcs, bit-torrents & just plain old forum sharing. I’m not talking about music, which is rampant as well. Our small business creates software which is being shared and literally taking food off my family’s table and threatening the jobs of 5 employees.

I’d like to create, or preferably pay someone to create a mild computer virus that will scare people into staying away from downloading products bearing our name. It can be something as simple as an annoying warning message, including removal instructions. I don’t want to wipe out anyones hard drive or anything close. Just simply scare a few big mouths who’ll spread the word on other forums to stay away from pirated versions of our stuff.

We’ve considered & tried all other routes. Any assistance is appreciated.

DC
Thanks for the replies so far.
I didnt realize it was illegal. I mean, I can see why purposely infecting someones computer is illegal, but I don’t REALLY want anyones computer to be infected at all. I’d much rather they do not illegally download our products. As far as license keys & such…. They are as easy to share as anything else.

We’re really in a pickle… This is killing our business. I’ve been self employed for nearly 10 years now and I may find myself looking for a 9 to 5 and pulling my son out of the catholic school where all his friends are because I wont be able to afford it much longer. We’re being killed slowly by illegal downloading. I’m desperate.. And I dont know how else to fight fire, but with fire. help! =)

If you create software you should be perfectly capable of designing your own defense method (virus*not recommended, etc.)

I need assistance setting up my wireless network?

I just bought a netgear router. I attached the router to my modem and then to the computer. Then I inserted the CD and followed the instructions and setup my wireless network. I gave it a name and password. Then I went on my laptop and tried to connect to the wireless network. When I try to connect it says connected then I hover my mouse over it and it says Identifying.. It does that for a minute or two then loses connection. What do I do here?

Free PC Help staff answers:

Call netgear, with a new router they will give you free help setting it up. I know this because I bought one at walmart about 3 months ago, could not get it to work with Windows Vista. My windows 7 computer would work fine but not Vista.

Computer help Windows 7?

Help! I was trying to fix a problem my father in is having with his computer following the instructions that were sent to us through tech assistance with a program he wants. I opened the file it said to and Windows gave me a list of what to open it with. I chose “Windows Media Center and clicked ok. I didn’t realize that the box at the bottom that tells the computer to open all programs with that file was checked.

Can someone please tell me how to get everything back like it’s supposed to be?

Easiest way is to do a System Restore to a day before you changed things.

Put System Restore into Search.

Remote Assistance : Does anyone know how to actually make this work in Windows XP Pro?

I have 2 computers that share a wireless internet access. Both machines use Windows XP Pro. Is it possible to use remote desktop on one machine to view the desktop of the other? I know this can be done with 3rd party software however I would like to this using Remote Assitance. I have checked the Microsoft website however I could not find step by step instructions on how to complete this.

Free PC Help staff answers:

Have you tried synergy -free from sourceforge.net

remote assistence would involve inviting somebody OUTSIDE to view the machine I think?

Also what about configing the remote access connectiuon in computer management > services.
