Joseph asks…
Computer assistance needed immediately!!?
My parents got me a laptop (HP Pavilion Vista) about a year and a half ago now.
Anyways, I just recently found out that I had a trojan virus so I went out and bought the new McAfee total protection package, I ran the scan and it got rid of the virus. Now however things seem to be getting worse and worse.
Everytime I log on to the internet within a couple minutes I get 2 messages. One containing a message saying
“Windows has encountered a critical problem and will automatically restart in one minute. Please save your work now.” being a windows vista that’s all the information I received.
The other message says that my Services and Controller App is not working. This one with a little more detail.

Anyone know what’s going on? I’m a college student and needless to say, I need my computer 100% function along with internet access without it completely shuting everything down.
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN, IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED

Free PC Help staff answers:
A couple of things you can do.. One is to definitely download malwarebytes, as in addition to a antivirus program, this helps keeps your computer safe.
Another thing to do it to go to Nortons website and they have multiple virus removal tools and instructions, as long as you have the specific trojan virus that was on your computer. If you can’t find it, let me know and i’ll see what i can do.

Hmm… Don’t you think you should have told us the type of your video card? ![]()
First check the manufacturer’s site for recent drivers. And install them.
Then start menu/run dxdiag
look at the d3d / directdraw tests….
If everything is OK then you may also have problems with the game’s video options. Look for it!
Good luck!
