Maria asks…
How can I solve if suddenly my keyboard strikes does not type the correct letters?
After connected fron a UK computer to a Spanish computer via remote assistance. The Spanish computer does not type correctly and the keyboard gets desconfigured. How can I solve this issue?

Free PC Help staff answers:
Click the Start button
Go to Settings and Control Panel
Double-click on Keyboard
On the top of the window that will appear, click the tab marked Language
A list will be displayed showing you the language and layout that Windows is using for your keyboard. Normally there is only one entry present in this list.
If the language is not correct for the country you are in, click Add and select your country from the list.
Then you must delete the entry for the incorrect country (click on it and click the Remove button).
Windows should prompt you to restart your computer in order for the new settings to take
effect.
If the language IS correct but the layout is not, click the Properties button, open the drop-down list and click on the layout you want (e.g.. For
a US English keyboard, click on United States 101 in the list). Click OK in that Window and then Apply and OK in the main keyboard window.

What are the best computer part suppliers in the UK?
Hello Brits! I am an American who is normally on the American Yahoo!Answers site on the computer and internet DESKTOP forum. We frequently get British people on our site asking for help, advice and computer build information but they need to know where to buy parts in the UK. So that is why I am posting this question specifically to the UK site, seeing as how my counterparts in Britain know where to get parts – this is to help your fellow Brits find parts when we give assistance.
Please help me to help your citizens by telling me what are the top 5 sites in Britain to purchase computer parts and supplies. Which supplier(s) have the best deals? Please give me a link or links to those sites so I can pass that information along to fellow British citizens when we help them from our site here in the US.
Thanking you kindly…And God save the Queen!

George asks…
I want to put b/b on my 3 computers – UK only?
My apologies to those who answered my previous query about networking 3 computers. I worded the question wrongly. Thanks for your assistance.
1) 2 computers are XP Home and 1 is 98SE. Can I link them to broadband – preferably wirelessly? I don’t need them networked together. Why not? Just don’t see the need. 3 people – 3 computers.
2) Would a hub or a router be better in this situation? Do I still need a modem?
2) Any recommendation as to the best b/b provider taking into account speed, costs, download limits and equipment provided?
3) Just how are download limits calculated? Is linking to a Website taking up download or is this purely file transfers like pictures, games and music?
4) As it is unlikely that a b/b provider would supply equipment for 3 computers any recommendations on a good router or hub, and would you use a card or a USB connection?

Free PC Help staff answers:
Yes you can link all three together on the same router.
The router provides a door for your computers to access the broadband network. Most routers have multiples of 4 ports on the back so you can have up to four computers physically plugged in.
Wirelessly, as long as the router is wireless and all of your computers are wireless then you can have all three connected via radio, normally below channel 12. You may need to get into your router (http://192.168.1.254 normally) to access signal strengths, channels, access etc.
Download speeds. Using one router for 3 PC’s will mean the bandwidths (up and downloads) will be shared by each PC. Worst case scenario your bandwidth will be split by three. If one of the PC’s is switched off then it will be halved between the two others. If one of those is gaming and one is emailing then the gamer will get the most of the bandwidth.
Downloads are also affected by the website providing the info, if I can only send you information at 100Kbps then your connection speed of a bazillion Gbps is meaningless because my end of the transmission is crap.
Most BB providers buy from BT and sell it on to you so they are all pretty much the same.
Any questions feel free to email me.

Computer grants for the disabled – UK?
Hi, a friend of mine has Fibromyalgia, and is registered disabled. she would like to get a desktop PC but could do with some financial help, does anyone know of any grants or assistance she could get please?
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a disorder classified by the presence of chronic widespread pain and tactile allodynia. While the criteria for such an entity have not yet been thoroughly developed, the recognition that fibromyalgia involves more than just pain has led to the frequent use of the term “fibromyalgia syndrome”. It is not contagious, and recent studies suggest that people with fibromyalgia may be genetically predisposed. The disorder is not directly life-threatening. The degree of symptoms may vary greatly from day to day with periods of flares (severe worsening of symptoms) or remission; however, the disorder is generally perceived as non-progressive.
