Domain Hijack When Browsing DTAC Network From My Computer Via Bluetooth?

I received a message that my connection was not secure and could be viewed by others when attempting to access my yahoo email. I performed a HijackThis which said the following lines are all hijacks!

O1 – Hosts: ::1 localhost
O13 – Gopher Prefix:
O17 – HKLMSystemCCSServicesTcpip..{FCC1D93E-03FA-494C-BDC6-96CE70DC587F}: NameServer = 192.168.165.1 203.155.33.2

I deleted all lines. Disconnected from the DTAC (Thailand EDGE/GPRS Service Provider) network and performed another HijackThis scan while offline and everything appeared to be okay. However, when I connected again from my computer to the DTAC network using my bluetooth. Line 017 came back again. This time with a different IP address. I will paste below so you can see exactly what I am talking about.

O17 – HKLMSystemCCSServicesTcpip..{FCC1D93E-03FA-494C-BDC6-96CE70DC587F}: NameServer = 192.168.165.1 203.146.237.237

I contacted DTAC customer support which indicated that no one has ever reported this problem and that I will be receiving a call back from tech support. Needless to say, I never received that phone call. I know, I know….”Welcome to Thailand.” :-)

All kidding aside. Can anyone tell me how eliminate this problem and how to prevent this from happening to me agian; short of switching providers? I would like to keep DTAC since they seem slightly faster then the others for downloading. Although, 15kbps isn’t anything to be excited about.

Cheers!

There is a difference between IS being and COULD be.

All the message is doing is saying that is an insecure (as opposed to a secure) connection.

That allows you to keep in mind not to do anything secure over that kind of insecure connection.

I believe line 17 is your TCPIP settings for your Bluetooth to talk over DTAC.

Worm elimination and computer restoring, how do I do this?

Please see Mail server report from Yahoo below. I ran Windows software malicious tool and it’s clean. Zonealarm virus scan also clean so should I be concerned about this report?

Our firewall determined the e-mails containing worm copies are being sent from your computer.
Nowadays it happens from many computers, because this is a new virus type (Network Worms).
Using the new bug in the Windows, these viruses infect the computer unnoticeably.
After the penetrating into the computer the virus harvests all the e-mail addresses and sends the copies of itself to these e-mail addresses
Please install updates for worm elimination and your computer restoring.

Thanks to all for your answers. Since then I have received similar reports coming from different senders, serv [at] yahoo [dot] co [dot] uk, sec [at] yahoo [dot] co [dot] uk etc. so it must definitely be a bogus mail. I am using Firefox and MS Outlook has blocked access to the potentially unsafe update .exe attachment. What a relief !

I had this problem, what I did to solve it was hit my PC with a hammer (whilst it was running windows (which is the worst OS in the celestial hemmisphere), then I wen’t out and bought a Mac and I have had no problems since (other than the fact that there are just about no games for Mac).

How can i stop my computer from freezing?

I am using windows XP pro, 512 RAM
It freezes during different points during startup & after awhile is would load without any windows services (ie. Help and Support, Wireless network connection)
I have reformatted the hard drive to reinstall windows xp, but it now freezes during the installation
Only things recently installed/cahnged: Registry cleaner installed & used and Party Poker

Free PC Help staff answers:

The most common cause of computer freezes is a corrupt registry.
Most likely your registry is bloated and overstuffed with an assortment of useless pieces of data. The operating system while running your computer has to pick its way through all this excess material. There will be bits of programs which were not completely uninstalled, parts of programs which were never completely installed, fragments of miscellaneous data, useless drivers, and a multitude of other bits and pieces.
The answer is to clean your registry and remove all the material which is not needed.

Get the best one, and completely clean your windows registry with a few clicks of the mouse.

Often there is also spyware which is using your computer for nefarious purposes and slowing its operation.
The answer is to scan your pc with a best anti-spyware to clean spyware/trojan/virus.

Free PC Help staff answers:

Rather Than Providing A NICE look & visual arts I highly

advise that You SHOULD GIVE USABILITY to ur website (Functionality & Content Modeling)

Because User will Leave in No Time If They Finds it is of NO USE to Them.

(eg. Google Classic Home Page is So Simple but it provides what-what
we know vey vell so we keep visiting !!)

Have you received any emails about your computer sending out worms with your email?

This came into my email just today. It sounds fishy to me. This is the email address that sent it, supposedly. secur [at] areainc [dot] com There’s an attachment I’m not opening which is identified as Update-KB6890-x86.zip (17KB).

This sounds very much like someone trying to get a worm into computers via email. What do you think?

Free PC Help staff answers:

You made the right decisions, very proud of you. First of all, no one will ever send you a legimate email stating that your machine is sending emails containing viruses. As you already know, when you see that the email has an attatchment (paper clip icon), DO NOT OPEN IT. Also, you’ll notice the update number kb-6890. Windows updates use the letter “K” as the first letter in the update files, leading you to believe that it’s an update from Microsoft. Trust me, You’ll never, ever get an update file from Microsoft in your email. The story of the Wooden Trojan Horse, sneaked into an unexpected crowd by disuising itself as something else. Trojans and their varients use the same system to trick you into clicking on their “Great Looking File” and then put the whammy on ya. If it’s an Email worm, it will copy itself hudreds and even thousands of times on your hard drive and send copies of itself to all of your friends on your Messengers Friends List, and then their friends, etc etc. Awesome comment. Thank You, Larry
