Sharon asks…

Can you please tell me why additional RAM has speeded my PC up, but does not show in Control Panel?

I have recently added a further 1Gb. of RAM to my fairly old PC, and this seems to have had the desired effect in speeding things up a bit. However the amount of RAM showing on the Control Panel and in Beleric Advisor remains at the original amount of 1 Gb. Can anyone please explain why this may be the case? I will be very grateful for any answers. Many thanks for your help.
Graeme Murray.

If it is an older computer, it is highly possible that it does not support more than 1GB of RAM in the first place, and any speed up you are noticing is more attributed to the “Placebo” effect than the actual RAM.

Lisa asks…

How do I find out what is on my computer?

I’m trying to help people who want to know what is on there computer. When I needed to know what was on mine , my brother-in-law who is a military IT tech sent me to this site and I would like to share, so when someone does a search hopefully they will get this question.

Go to the site I will post. Click free download. You can look at the FAQs before you download.

The site is http://www.belarc.com/index.html

It is called Belarc AdvisorPC Audits in your web browser. It builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, missing Microsoft hotfixes, anti-virus status, CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks, and displays the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any web server.

It let’s you know everything. So I hope this will help someone.
Yes this is a Question just not for me. I hope it will go in the archive and and people looking for it will find it.
The post is a question, the info is the answer. Just trying to help out because I’m not on here alot.
Now do you get it. Sorry to confuse you.
I looked and seen share what you know. Yes I know what it means. I was just getting what installed software was on my machine because I’m getting rid of everything I don’t use and belarc tells me all the installed software, stuff I didn’t know was there. Just trying to be helpful. When I have a question I do the search for questions first.

Hey. Thanks. This is a question I wanted to ask and I forgot about it. And that other guy is just a hater. You just copy and pasted some of the info it gives you when you go there. It worked great,It listed everything inside my computer. It even tells me how many times I logged on to my computer. Plus all the other stuff. Great site. I trust it.

I don’t think this is spam he helped me out. This can be my question now. And when it goes in the archives the only people who will get it are likely the people who are looking for this kind of question. Like me. So Thanks.

William asks…

What is a ‘Belarc Advisor’ and do I really need it on my computer?

It came with the PC and I am not into computers too much, I know the basics only. Thanx 4 the help.

It is a valuable tool for people who fix computers or people who need to find serial numbers and key codes for programs they have installed. Do you need it? I would run it, it opens an html file in your browser, then I would print that information and keep it handy. You can remove it and it won’t hurt anything. It doesn’t normally come with computers.
